Most of the time, a media console falls into one of these categories:
1. Often Stocked. You can often find this particular console (this particular style and wood/finish) ready to ship because it is pretty popular and we regularly make it. Because it is popular, it might also be out of stock at times, but with shorter wait times because we build it pretty frequently.
2. Not Often Stocked. You might find this console in stock. Why it might be made to stock now and then is more art than science and we will leave it there. In the case of Cherry consoles, you might see shorter wait times for a period of time because until we lock in the stain toward the end of the process, it can be made into any of our offerings.
3. Made Just for You. This designation applies to Walnut and a few models where the alternate configuration (e.g. all drawers) is not in huge demand but we are prepared to build it when required.
So here is the bottom line: if what you want falls into the second category, grab it if we have it or allow time for us to build it. if what you want is in the third category, allows leave time for us to make it. We often do better than our estimates and only rarely go longer. No matter what, it is worth the wait to get the fine furniture you seek for many years of enjoyment.

We wanted a console to place under our new 60 inch flat screen tv in our vacation home living room and couldn't find one anywhere. Local furniture stores didn't have a pleasing style and putting a particle board unit together from a big box Scandinavian store was not a consideration. Then, after searching online, I found that my wife an I liked at Standout Designs. To be honest, I never heard of this company in PA so I was reluctant to make a purchase and was unsure of the product quality. Reviews like the ones you're reading and that I read helped me overcome that obstacle. We placed the order and waited for the console to be constructed and delivered. It seems very few transactions escape a hiccup or two, they were addressed and quickly resolved by the owner, Alan. The black console was delivered and setup (we opted for the white glove service) and now the flat screen tv is mounted on the wall above it. The black wood console looks great against our white wall but I'm sure it would look just as good in front of any color wall or in any room. The unit is skillfully made and I can see attention was taken with all the details. The soft close doors close designed and the drawers close smoothly. Another benefit of doing business with Standout is that it is not a MEGA store so having a conversation with the right person, if needed, is a pleasant change. In summation, if your budget is tight, or you like putting particle board furniture together, well, maybe you should go to the big box Scandinavian or other discount store. However, if you want a piece of furniture that is fully assembled, made of wood and American made, go to Standout.
When it was time for a new media console to house all new stereo-hi fi equipment my wife and I decided that it had to be made in America. After a google search we focused in on Standout Designs. The console we ordered, the Majestic EX 70, was shipped on time and arrived on schedule, well packed and in flawless condition.
Our first - and lasting impression - is that this is a beautifully designed console, with perfect proportions, made with solid furniture grade plywood, high quality hardware, constructed by outstanding American craftsmen and meticulously finished.
Thoughtful features are noted: the back panels - beautifully finished on the inside and outside are not held in by screws; instead, the bottom of each of the panels drops into a grove at the bottom of the cabinet - a push inward at its top and the panel magically clicks into position.
All the hardware used is obviously heavy duty and of excellent quality. The two drawers slide in and out effortlessly with no play or wobble. The drawers are of course finished on the inside as are the eight dividers - 4 per drawer. These are held in place by clever spring-loaded brackets which allow the owner to adjust the drawer divisions as required.
Another innovative feature is the top drawer which has a speaker grill. If the owner wishes, he can insert a center speaker in the drawer, or if a larger speaker is to be used, the drawer is easily removed, and a larger grill installed in its place.
All in all - our new console is an outstanding addition to our home. Standout Designs lives up to its name.
During the past holidays I visited the website and after a few e-mails Alan gave me the confidence (and my wife gave me the permission) to buy a 70 inch Majestic in walnut with black hardware. I had some worries about about the shipping that were unfounded. The packing isolates the console with heavy corrugated cardboard, foam, and shrink wrap and then ties it to a pallet. The ABF Driver was courteous and responsive to my concerns to get it off the truck and into the garage before the unveiling and inspection for any damage. Everything survived beautifully without a blemish. Kudos to the packing and shipping crew at Standout. I knew the console quality would be beyond reproach. It’s a beautiful, precision piece of furniture that happens to house audio and video equipment elegantly. The Standout Design woodworkers are obviously skilled artisans. The joinery is so precise, it looks like cuts were made on CNC machine with computer guided cuts instead of a table saw and jointer guided by hand. It’s really beautiful and it’s mostly solid walnut! It’s perfect.
