Hard Maple, also known as Rock Maple, White Maple, and Sugar Maple, is a durable closed-grain wood with a smooth, even, and fine grain pattern. Mineral streaks are possible, as is some figuring.
Our Red Oak is an open-grain wood with dominant grain patterns that run from straight line to arched and pointed. Appearance is strongly similar to Ash commonly used for speakers.
Pennsylvania Cherry and Black Walnut are quintessential American luxury hardwoods. Cherry is smooth, closed-grain and known for its rich color. It darkens to a rich reddish brown with age, displaying a range of tones. Gum streaks and pin knots add to its beauty and character. Black Walnut is a moderately open grain of medium texture. Rich colors range from dark brown to deep purple-black and can include some white/cream. Receives stain beautifully, as our Rosenut demonstrates.

Standout AV furniture ships via national freight carrier to the continental United States and Canada. Deliveries are Monday-Friday by appointment during normal business hours, excluding major holidays. Delivery windows are typically between 2-4 hours. Your must be present to inspect and sign for the shipment. Non-furniture items shipping separately go UPS or other parcel service.

GST/PST is additional and is not collected by us. You must engage a broker to speed your furniture through customs. We recommend Pacific Customs Brokers Ltd. ("PCB") The fee for Standout customers is CA$110 plus a nominal credit card processing fee. You can contact PCB at 888-538-1566 for more information. Available to and customers.
Standard Delivery is made by one driver with a 28-foot tractor trailer equipped with a lift-gate (elevator) at the rear. The lift-gate allows the driver to safely lower your furniture down from the truck on his or her own.
Using a hand-truck or dolly, the driver will wheel your furniture into your garage at a minimum and through the front door if feasible in the driver's judgment. If you live in an apartment building, a freight elevator is required to deliver above the ground floor.
This service does not include the unpacking of your furniture, taking the packaging away, or stairs beyond a few external that are manageable with a hand-truck. Please choose White Glove if you want any of these services.[top]
Available to and customers.
This method is the same as Standard Delivery (see above) except that you will need to help the driver take your furniture down off the back of the truck because the truck will not have a lift-gate. It is just as fast and less expensive because there is no lift-gate charge.
IMPORTANT: To take advantage of this option, your delivery address must accommodate a 53-foot tractor-trailer. If not, please choose Standard or White Glove Delivery.[top]
Available to customers.
This option is particularly useful to customers with several external stairs or internal stairs that must be traversed. It adds a day or two more in transit time.
Two delivery people will take your furniture to your room of your choice, up or down up to two flights of stairs as required. They will unpack it, position it, and remove the packaging. Please contact us or add a note to your order if you have more than two flights.
The delivery team does not install shelves, door glass, or accessories nor do they handle electronics. Please note that original packaging materials are required to utilize our return policy.
In areas where ABF Freight does not provide White Glove service directly, deliveries will be made with HomeDirect USA, a national White-Glove delivery company.

Some of our furniture products are exceptionally large and heavy, like the Haven 82" AV console, making them a bit much for one driver to handle alone with just a hand-truck. Unless you are prepared to significantly help the driver, Standard Delivery and Super-Saver Delivery are not recommended for these items.
You may have noticed that furniture items show "Ships Freight." Our furniture products are too large and too valuable to ship via parcel services like UPS and FedEx. So we ship them LTL ("less-than-truckload") truck. Our preferred carrier, ABF Freight, is a national company with a stellar reputation for fast, courteous and careful delivery of large and valuable goods.[top]
You have probably heard this expression: "There is no such thing as a free lunch." It stands for the commonly accepted notion that you don't get something for nothing. Truth be told, online stores that advertise "Free Shipping" have factored the shipping charge into the price of the item. You ARE paying for shipping.
At Standout Designs, we let you choose the level of service, so you only pay for the service you require. We also ship on sturdy pallets that increase shipment weight but also decrease the chance for disappointing transit damage. So does our use of ABF Freight to handle our goods. ABF consistently has one of the lowest if not the lowest cargo claim ratio in the industry year after year. No one likes receiving a damaged piece of expensive furniture.
Likewise, our shipping rates reflect the reality that it costs considerably more to move a pallet of furniture 2000 miles than 200 miles. This has become more stark in recent years due to the surge in fuel prices. Our warehouse is in central Pennsylvania. So our customers out West pay more for delivery. Our customers in Northeast Canadian provinces also pay more given higher costs reflecting different cross-border charges and more remote addresses.[top]
If all furniture items on your order are in stock, we typically ship your order the next business day (possibly the same day if we receive your order early enough in the morning). If there are furniture items that we need to build, lead times vary from 1-8 weeks depending on the item and if we already have an available units in process. If some of your furniture items are in stock, we can split your shipment for an additional $100 fee.[top]
Your shipment will most likely take from 1 to 5 business days in transit to reach you. To give you a general idea of transit time, here is a map provided by our carrier primary carrier ABF showing transit times from our central Pennsylvania warehouse. White Glove Delivery adds an extra 1-2 days. Please note that some shipments may ship Con-way Freight instead.
Delivery to some zip codes might be longer. You can use our Transit Time Calculator on any furniture product page to estimate your specific transit time. You can find it on the BUY NOW tab at the bottom of the SUMMARY box on the right side of the page. Click TRANSIT TIME and enter your delivery zip code. In some cases, you need to select your particular city.
ABF and Con-way deliver by appointment on weekdays during normal business hours except for major holidays like New Year's, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Residential deliveries most often take place in the afternoon given the traffic patterns of many areas. Appointment windows are generally 2-3 hours. The carrier will contact you to schedule or you can use the contact information we provide you when we ship. If you have special needs, contact us and we will work with the carrier to see what accommodation can be made.
You must be present to inspect and then sign for your furniture. Our packaging is designed to allow quick access: cut the plastic bands around the carton and slip off the top. Then remove the protective foam. If the delivery person does not allow a quick inspection, please note that on the delivery receipt.[top]
Need your delivery on a certain day of the week? Want to wait until renovations are complete? Need to wait until after closing on your new home? No problem. Just let us know. You can still order now - we don't charge you until we ship. We are happy to work with you to coordinate shipment and delivery around your schedule.[top]
Though we pack our Standout furniture very well and ship each piece on a sturdy pallet to protect it, transit damage may still occasionally occur. Please note any damage on the delivery receipt or refuse delivery. Then notify us by calling 877-325-9663 (leave a message if after hours). Pictures are always helpful. We will work diligently to remedy any and all concerns.
In some cases, we can send a part (e.g. door frame), so it may be more convenient to accept delivery. In others, it may be appropriate to reject delivery.[top]
You can check the status of your order by logging into your account and viewing its status. If an item is backordered and we have an estimated ship date, you will see it in on the order status page. If it has been a while, we typically call as the ship date approaches just to make sure you will be available to accept delivery. When we do ship, you will receive an email with tracking information.[top]
