Caring for Your Wood Furniture

Introduction

Your Standout furniture has been built using renowned solid American hardwood and finished with a durable, water-resistant, topcoat. Follow the care and maintenance recommendations below and it should provide you with many years of enjoyment.

Environment and Placement

Your furniture naturally expands and contracts slightly with ordinary changes in relative humidity and temperature. This normal process has been taken into consideration in the design of your furniture and it does not affect quality, sturdiness, or useful life. The key is to avoid extreme humidity and temperature changes.

  • Ideal Temperature: between 65F and 75F.
  • Ideal Relative Humidity: between 35% and 40%.
  • Position furniture out of direct sunlight (reposition or use window treatments if necessary)
  • Position furniture away heat or air-conditioning vents, humidifiers, radiators, space heaters and fireplaces.

Setup and Everyday Usage

Your furniture is made from naturally dent-resistant wood and finished with a durable topcoat that is resistant to liquids. While quite durable, it is not, however, immune to damage. Follow these practices to keep it looking beautiful.

  • Exercise extreme care when placing items in and/or on your furniture.
  • Lift rather than drag items across your furniture surfaces.
  • Use coasters when resting beverages on your furniture.
  • Keep solvents such as nail polish remover and alcohol away from your furniture.

Cleaning Instructions

Keeping your Standout furniture looking beautiful for years to come is easy. Just clean and polish occasionally with a quality liquid or paste wax polish. This will enhance protection from dust and smudges. The finish may also be wiped clean using a soft damp cloth and a mild soap. Rinse the surface with clean water and dry with a soft cloth. That's it!
